Mission
You will be involved in R&D projects related to the use and development of state of the art genetic evaluation and selection procedures to support all Hendrix Genetics breeding programs. You will contribute to creating and utilizing digital twins via stochastic simulations, and you will evaluate alternative options for breeding design, data collection and translation of this information to support genetic programs.
Key Accountabilities
- Execute R&D projects on creating, expanding, and utilizing digital twins of breeding programs for all our species, either or not in collaboration with external partners
- Execute ad hoc analyses to support the breeding programs of Hendrix Genetics Business Units
- Collaborate with Business Unit R&D departments in maintaining and driving genetic and economic progress
- Improve and evaluate the genetic selection programs together with geneticists of Business Units
- Collaborate with interdisciplinary teams to integrate extensive pedigree, phenotypic, genotypic, and environmental data
- Prepare reports and present results to internal and external stakeholders and audiences
- Contribute to strategic planning and innovation in breeding programs
Profile
Do you have the following requirements?
- Education: MSc or preferably PhD degree in Animal Breeding or closely related field.
- Experience: Up to 3 years of relevant working experience in the field of animal breeding or related research.
- Knowledge needed: proven understanding of quantitative and statistical genetics, programming in R and python, scripting on linux or unix.
- Fluent in English.
