Your Role

As a rapidly growing international and data-driven breeding company, we are heavily relying on our R&D systems to collect and process all types of structured & unstructured data. In order to support the day-to-day operations and assist our R&D end-users, we are looking for a R&D Application support specialist for our Aquaculture Business Unit (Salmonids & Shrimps).

In this position you will work closely with an international team of geneticists and other R&D specialists, providing 1st line support on R&D applications and devices.

As our R&D application landscape is for a big part designed and developed by different teams from our internal IT Department, you will work with these teams to hand-over the support for the different components of our Breeding IT landscape.

Responsibilities

You will support our R&D users End to End, meaning:

  • Respond and manage incidents and service requests according to Service Level Agreements;
  • Support R&D Applications and specific devices used in our different facilities worldwide;
  • Ensure proper communication and involvement of end-users from identification to resolution of incidents;
  • When required, escalate incidents and problems to the internal and/or external 2nd line support (can be infrastructure, developer teams);
  • Manage application access (adding/removing users);
  • Participate in the training of end users on new features / releases;
  • Be part of an international team, work with different cultures and sometimes timezones;
  • Continue learning and developing in the latest IT technologies.

Profile

Your Profile

  • A bachelor’s or master’s degree in (bio)-informatics, software engineering, or equivalent relevant experience;
  • Excellent communication skills in English, capacity to manage expectations and ability to speak “non-IT language” with end-users;
  • Very good knowledge of Relational Databases (SQL Server, Oracle), data modelling and querying;
  • General technical knowledge is required for this position: device management (handhelds, tablets, Bluetooth, Serial), infrastructure (Network, Microsoft Azure Cloud platform);
  • Quick learner, highly analytical, problem-solver and solution driven;
  • You are able to navigate in a fast-changing environment and be able to achieve goals and set priorities.

Additional preferred qualifications

  • Preferably +3 years of experience supporting end-users in a Research and Development company/department;
  • Agile mindset and knowledge of tools suck as Microsoft Azure DevOps;
  • Highly structured and conceptual mindset coupled with strong quantitative and analytical problem-solving ability;
  • Knowledge of any ITSM solutions.
