The General Counsel & Company Secretary serves as the principal legal advisor, responsible for overseeing all legal, compliance, insurance and governance matters. This role involves managing the organization’s legal interests, mitigating risks, and ensuring adherence to industry regulations across all business operations. Additionally, as Company Secretary, the role involves maintaining corporate records, facilitating communication with the Executive and Supervisory Boards, and ensuring compliance with corporate governance standards.

As secretary to the Leadership Committee and member to the Leadership Team you play a key role in co-driving, facilitating and monitoring the significant growth plans of the Company, and keep stakeholders informed of their legal and compliance responsibilities. You will manage, oversee and provide expert and strategic legal advice to a team of 3 senior legal counsels plus paralegal. You anticipate legal issues and/or compliance risks, together with the Corporate Ethics, Risks & Compliance Office, who reports to you, endeavor to further grow legal and compliance awareness and instil a motivated, accountable corporate culture in a pragmatic way.

We’re looking for an experienced legal professional/team manager with a Dutch Law background and 15+ years of professional experience, highly capable of leading people and driving results ideally gained as lawyer and in-house counsel, within agriculture, trading, or international business sectors broad corporate and commercial background, including governance as well as managing litigation an interest in compliance regarding trading and distribution as well as providing training on relevant topics, steady and resilient problem solver with an international mindset and a business focus, able to work in a highly commercial environment strong communicator and negotiator, fluent in Dutch and English
