Mission

Purpose of the job

We are looking for an Operations Manager who will be responsible for the overall management of the Kona Bay breeding operations in Hawaii. Ensuring excellence in all aspects of the business (Operational, Product, Commercial and Organizational) with the aim of achieving budget targets.

Key Accountabilities

  • Establish connections, structures and communications between R&D, Operations, Sales, Technical Support and Finance / Co-ordinate the functional development of R&D, Finance and Operations with the BU functional directors / Establish connections and work closely with other GM’s (HG shrimp operations.
  • Relationship management with government bodies, local communities, and other external stakeholders.
  • Operational Excellence: establish SoPs, production KPI monitoring.
  • Organizational Excellence: establish roles and responsibilities, reporting lines, personnel development and succession planning.
  • Product Excellence: liaise closely with R&D team and health professionals to maximize stock health and product development.
  •  Ensure regular reporting and support to areas to improve KPI’s.
  • Prepare the annual budget and manage the budget, forecast, expenses, debtor control, margin and cost control etc. in accordance with the financial policies and procedures of the Business Unit / Hendrix Genetics.
  • Ensure biosecurity standards are maintained and back up facility stocked per agreed plans.

Profil

Qualifications
  • Education: Bachelor’s degree or reasonable equivalent, preferably in aquaculture related studies.
  • Experience: At least 5 years of relevant management/technical experience gained in aqua business (preferably shrimp). 
  • Knowledge needed: Extensive knowledge of the aquaculture Industry. 
  • Professional level of English. 
  • Good knowledge and understanding of shrimp production, breeding programmes and biosecurity.
