Your Role

The Senior Accountant is part of the BU Turkeys Finance Team at the Kitchener Office and will work for designated operating companies and/or entities within the North America region. This position plays a key role in ensuring that the daily, weekly and monthly time sensitive finance information is executed in a highly efficient and accurate manner. The position requires the highest possible level of efficiency, timeliness, accuracy and integrity of all finance functions. This position will take responsibility for achieving deadlines and accuracy of information presented and will work to support other finance functions as required.

Responsibilities

  • Adherence to deadlines around month end, cut-off issues, reconciliations, and reporting
  • As the lead Accountant for assigned operating companies, work together with other team members to ensure a smooth, efficient and accurate accounting and closing process
  • Prepare and input journal entries, maintain G/L to financial statements, subledgers, and other sources of information
  • Conduct monthly and quarterly account reconciliations and analysis to ensure accurate reporting and ledger maintenance
  • Review and reconcile all inter-company transactions; generate invoices as necessary
  • Reporting of month end financial information using ERP systems (Dynamics 365, MTECH) and MS Excel, corporate entry to Oracle FCCS
  • Analyze financial statements for discrepancies, variances from budget, and other issues that should be brought to management’s attention
  • Provide support to managers, supervisors and co-workers, review work of junior department members
  • Query of database/ERP for various business purposes and create ad hoc reports to support business needs
  • Perform financial administration & business support as required (i.e., capex)
  • Ensure that all documented internal controls, approvals and procedures are adhered to, as well as tax entry compliance
  • Identify and provide recommendations regarding process improvement opportunities, support implementation of improved processes and controls
  • Other duties and projects within Finance department as assigned

Profil

  • Post-secondary education in Finance or Accounting
  • 3 - 5 years of experience in a full-cycle, high volume/large company Accountant role preferred
  • Comprehensive understanding of business systems, control procedures, cash management, general ledger, reconciliation, and reporting
  • High level computer skills - MS Office products, primarily Excel; Dynamics 365 an asset
  • Ability to work with multiple demands and deadlines, able to prioritize work
  • Knowledge and experience with large accounting/ERP systems; BI tools an asset
  • High level of planning & organization; ability to juggle multiple projects and deadlines
  • Demonstrate efficient time management
  • Meticulous attention to detail
  • Excellent interpersonal & communication skills; team player
  • Ability to effectively problem solve and make decisions; be proactive in improving processes
  • Work with integrity and confidentiality
  • Ability to adapt and lead in a high performance environment
